Next Friday the registration period in the first phase of the application plan of the Health Insurance law in Dubai, which was adopted by his Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai) which obliges companies which employs more than 1,000 employees to provide health insurance to their employees before the end of October.
The General Director of the Dubai Health Authority, Engineer Essa Al Maidour, it is expected to be during this stage, the inclusion of 700 thousand employees in the Emirate of Dubai by the Health Insurance Law.
He praised the response of many of the companies involved with the operational plan of the law, despite the presence of a number of these companies are still waiting until now in spite of the approach of the period allowed for registration in the first phase, calling for a rapid response with this stage to contribute to the application of strategic health outputs of the Emirate of Dubai .
He said it will soon begin to link residence visas with health insurance in collaboration with all concerned authorities in the emirate and the free zones, according to the Health Insurance law.
He explained that the Health Insurance Law, which came into the actual application at last mid-February, aims to enhance the local and global competitive position of Dubai in its quest for number one, and to ensure health security for citizens and residents and visitors to the emirate.
He confirmed that the application of the Health Insurance law will contribute to building a world-class health system that is flexible and financial sustainability, and the development of the health economy and encourage investment and therapeutic tourism, , and follow best international practices, and attract the best medical expertise to the emirate, and to provide better health services to the beneficiaries.
From his side, the director of health financing management, Dr. Haidar Al Yousuf, said that the 44 health insurance companies licensed by the commission detected a remarkable activity by employers, as a lot of them requests offers of health insurance compatible with the law, either the basic package or the rest of the categories, he pointed out that the legal obligation for employers at this stage is to provide insurance for all of their employees.
He pointed out that the many companies providing insurance to the families of employees, which is encouraged by the Commission, pointing out that the law enforcement stage obliges companies that employs more than 1,000 employees to secure all employees before the end of the month of October, and the companies that varies the number of of its employees between 100 and 999 before the end of next July, and companies with fewer than 100 employees by the end of June 2016, as well as domestic workers and members of the employee who is not covered by the employer before the end of June 2016 the family.
