Dr/Faisal Alnasser "The head of family and society at the faculty of medicine in the Arabian Gulf university" said that the average of Diabetes mellitus in the Arabian Gulf is the highest average in the world this is because of lifestyle and nutrition habits that depend on fast food and high calries soft drinks such as Pepsi.
Alnaseer presented a paper of a recent study at the International Congress for Family and Doctors
describing diabetes mellitus as a plague in Gulf region due to the high rate of disease in the region.
He said that the average prevalence of diabetes mellitus in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation
.Council is between 15% or 20% and may be higher during next years
Dr/Faisal warned from the beginning of a strange phenomenon that spreading of diabetes from second type (Non-insulin dependant Diabetes mellitus) between children although it was limited to the first type ....(insulin dependant Diabetes mellitus) between them.
It is known that the second type of Diabetes mellitus (Non-insulin dependant) prevalence is a result of lifestyle and food habits but the first type (insulin dependant Diabetes mellitus) is due to genetic factors.
Alnasser expected that the number of diabetic patients will be doubled by 2030 up to 60 million patient in Gulf countries only.
Alnasser Launched an initiative for the establishment of a European Arab cooperation
for Family doctors,this cooperation will be concerned with establishing conferences discussing
health problems in the society and Arabian gulf countries.
