The Ministry of Health has launched last month vaccination campaign against seasonal flu in all parts of the Kingdom, aims to provide vaccinations for half a million people from the most vulnerable categories to the risk of serious complications from the flu when they become infected.
Asiri explained that the ministry aims to vaccinate 75% of the most vulnerable categories to the risk of complications from influenza annually by 2019 AD, and this year they focus to vaccinate the most serious categories, such as working in the health care sector, pregnant women and people suffering from chronic diseases.
He said the ministry was developing a campaign of vaccination against influenza in accordance with the International Plan of Action of the World Health Organization for influenza vaccinations (GAP) which is a comprehensive strategy to reduce the current global shortage of pandemic influenza vaccines for seasonal and pandemic influenza in all countries of the world.
