His
Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of
Finance and Chairman of Dubai Health Authority expressed his admiration for the
great development of the UAE fifth Conference for Diabetes, also expressed his
admiration for the development of drugs and devices to check diabetes, which
currently affects about 19% of the citizens and residents of the state.
Before
his tour in the exhibition, he attended the opening speech of Emirates fifth
Diabetes Conference delivered by the President of the Conference and President
of the Emirates Diabetes Society, Dr. Abdul Razak Al Madani, who offered
sincere thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al
Maktoum for his patronage of the Conference and his unlimited support for all
medical events for the conference..
His
Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, asked representatives of Abbott
company to provide a detailed report on the «Freestyle LIBRA» device, which is
the latest in the world for sugar control in the blood without having to take a
sample of blood and needle stick, and His Highness stood long with company
representatives inquiring about the device which is optimal, especially for
children because it helps them to avoid painful acupuncture process and gives
accurate readings every minute for the level of sugar, which is ideal to
control the disease and to spare the patient the associated complications with
the disease, and he asked about the possibility of providing device for use in
hospitals of the body, as well as the suitability of the device for children
who play sports, swimming, and other fine details.
His
Highness stopped also at an international company that displays its latest
insulin organic drugs that will be put on the market during nearly two months,
and their effectiveness in stimulating the pancreas to produce insulin, and
expressed his admiration by development of medicines intended for diabetes and
hardware industry during the past few years, stressing that: this is a real
breakthrough, especially since diabetic patients were decades before persons
waiting slow death due to complications that affect the rest of the body
organs, especially the heart, arteries, blood retinal vessels and others.
His
Highness stopped at the suite of Emirates Diabetes Society, and was briefed by
those who made it about the activities and events carried out in order to limit
the spread of the disease, stressing on the need to reach to citizens in all
areas in order to work of regular investigations for them, which was confirmed
by President of the Association, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Almadani through the mobile clinic.
His
Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE
Minister of Finance and Chairman of Dubai Health Authority confirmed that the
UAE has been able in record time to achieve a comprehensive renaissance in all
fields, and the goal was to consolidate the role of science and knowledge in
all state institutions and openness to the humanities and global cultures under
the leadership governance of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,
may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum,
UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, , and their Highnesses
Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.
His
Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid in a speech delivered on his behalf by Essa
Al Maidour, General Director of the Dubai Health Authority in opening speech of "the therapeutic catheter from
head to the feet" Conference, which is organized by specialized World
Assembly of blood vessels and heart disease, the American Society and the UAE
Association of the heart, at the Conrad Hotel in Dubai yesterday , said that
the process of development and modernization pursued by the UAE based on coping
with the scientific development in all fields, especially in the medical field
through the development of medical research as a priority in order to enrich
the health renaissance, and improve health care and development services.
The
Deputy Ruler of Dubai said that: one of the main objectives of the current
phase is to strengthen Dubai's position as a major center for medical tourism
in the region, and therefore work in all health institutions being in full
swing for the provision of basic infrastructure, and prepare characteristic
medical staff for management of this important sector.
He
also asserted on the keenness of the UAE to encourage all ways to develop the
performance of workers in this vital sector, including continuing medical
education, which is an important platform for the exchange of experiences and
get to know the latest scientific findings and researchers in all medical
specialties worldwide.
The
conference will discuss the latest technologies, including automated devices in
cardiovascular operations and all organs of the body and the latest available
treatments in the global market.
