Five ministers took over the portfolio of health in Saudi Arabia with different specializations in one year, one was a doctor, the second was an engineer, the third was a chemist, and the fourth was an economist.
They all failed to do the job of the most important ministry in Saudi Arabia for being dealing with the Saudi’s health. This quote “No one succeeded in this place ever”, the late king Fahd Ben Abdul-Aziz Said, was applicable on all of the ministers. Although the reasons for their dismissal, the last result was one, they all dismissed one by one and Saudi’s health problems are the same as they are, however the money spent. The ministry of Health has taken one of the biggest budgets among all ministries in order to provide a better service for citizens.
The ministers were dismissed because of the impaired ability to deal with the emergence of some viruses, the continuing of the series of the medical errors and at last what is trading about dealing with citizens with superiority.
In Dr. Ghazi Al-Qasebi’s book “a life in administration”, he summed up the problem. He said that King Fahd once talked to him and explained that if he wanted to develop this sector, he would supervise it himself. This book defines the obstacles, which the health sector face, in two reasons: the lack of discipline among the workers, and not changing the administrative positions during the last 25 years.
The designation of Muhammad Al-Sheik as the minister of health comes after the failure of many men whose specialties were different such as; doctors, engineers, chemists and economists.
There are many obstacles in leading this ministry. Determining the official working hours at health centers is a good example, because it has submitted and retreated many times lately.
Many of the governmental exemptions were always published without reasons, unless inserting “At his request” phrase in the news, but lately this phrase is disappearing from the news as in the resignation of Dr. Ahmad Al-Khateeb, who is the last minister of health. This makes working and making progress is the only way of continuity, in contrast, people is saying that the reasons are the emergence and spread of medical errors, in addition to dealing with citizens with superiority according to what is shown in a video recording and the imperfect dealing with one of the southern hospitals.
One reason behind the resignations of the Saudi ministers of health in the last decades is the emergence of the epidemic diseases. One of the late examples is the resignation of Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeia after the prevalence of the Corona Virus in the last April. Some people considered Engineer Adel Faqeeh as the most active one in his tries to control the virus, however, it is still moving around Saudi Arabia’s sides.
