Saudi Arabia Diabetes Association fights obesity and promotes exercises

Saudi Association for Diabetes and endocrine system celebrated world walking day on the first day of October by a big Marathon for running at cornice of Dammam.A lot of Saudi Arabia citizens from all ages participate in this Marathon to encourage walking sports in order to fight obesity,Diabetes Mellitus and Osteoarthritis.

Dr/Abd Al-Aziz Al-Turki (The Chairman of  Saudi Association for Diabetes and endocrine system) called to allocation of tracks for running in all regions of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia including schools,universities,governmental and private institutions.

Dr/Kamel Salama (The General secretary of Saudi Association for Diabetes and endocrine system) mentioned walking sports support general health and prevent the danger of Diabetes,obesity and cardiovascular problems in the future.


Walking Sport Symbol

A lot of people shared in this Marathon including young children with diabetes and their families as well as patients from different ages and members of Saudi Association for Diabetes and endocrine system and volunteers.

Dr/Kamel Salama Advised Saudi Arabia citizens to walk instead of using their vehicles especially if the distance was short and taking the stairs instead of using elevators.

Dr/Bassem Vota (Chairman of the Committee on Nutrition and education) said that the adult person consumes the equivalent of 300 calories per hour of walking and improves the performance of the respiratory system and increase the level of oxygen in blood circulation.

He added that the best time to do walking sports is in the morning consuming the highest calories and decreasing the tension.He warned from walking before sleeping as it causes sleep disturbances.
